2012 Highlights

The 2012 SSS Financial Aid Conference in Baltimore, MD saw a great turnout with over 280 attendees from 36 states, the UK, and Croatia. The largest number of practitioners had two years or less (77); however, the more seasoned veterans of five to ten or ten or more years following closely behind with (69 and 68 respectively). We began with a beautiful dance recital from Mercy High School's dance team and Alfie Kohn kicking us off with a provocative talk and concluded with a stirring and inspirational presentation from Bonnie St John that sent us out to do great things. In between we had over 30 breakout sessions to help people engage and connect. We also managed to squeeze in a couple of opportunities for local school tours and a parents financial aid night attended by 80 parents.

We've received a lot of great feedback from the attendees about their rewarding experience but thought we'd share a few thoughts from The Episcopal Academy in Newtown Square, PA: "I just wanted to take a moment to thank you and your staff for making the first annual national conference happen. I can honestly say that this was the most helpful, most useful and absolutely the best professional development experience that I have had in my 35 years of working in independent schools. I was able to bring back so many practical ideas to use in my work with financial aid. I came away with something from every session I attended. It truly was invaluable to me and my work."
